This project focuses on the refurbishment and modernization of key railway line sections linking Malaba to Jinja and Port Bell through Kampala and Kyengera. The work is part of a national effort supported by the Uganda Project Development Programme to strengthen transportation infrastructure, improve regional connectivity, and enhance the efficiency of cargo and passenger movement across the country.
The project will upgrade aging railway tracks, bridges, and support systems to improve safety, reliability, and operational capacity. It will also restore critical railway buildings, logistics facilities, and passenger service points needed for smooth rail operations.
The Uganda Project Development Programme guides the planning, coordination, and implementation process to ensure the project aligns with national development priorities. The Unit works jointly with ministries, technical partners, contractors, and local authorities to ensure quality delivery, effective oversight, and sustainability of outcomes.
